Many divisions of the American Library Association - such as the American Association of School Librarians (AASL), the Association of College & Research Libraries (ACRL), and the Association of Specialized & Cooperative Library Agencies (ASCLA) - provide toolkits for school, academic, and some types of special libraries.

Special libraries should check for resources from other organizations such as the Medical Library Association, the American Association of Law Libraries, and the Special Library Association.
