Some of interior and exterior details to remember include:

  • Stack heights – number of shelves for each range of shelving
  • Mobile shelving – number of shelves for each range followed by an “M”
  • Restrooms – fixtures, changing tables, and floor drains
  • Size - Number of square feet for each programmed space
  • Labels – for each programmed space and other features, i.e. art gallery space
  • Water fountains
  • Furniture layouts in all spaces
  • Aisles in the meeting room
  • Bicycle racks
  • Dumpsters
  • Stand-alone exterior book returns, if proposed
  • Staff workstations

We also suggest not using color to define interior programmed spaces but instead layout floor plans on a white background for easier reading and interpretation.
