Answer:

If the user is working on a computer inside a Massachusetts library or K-12 campus and they are prompted for a library card number, contact MLS or Gale Technical Support (1-800-877-4253 x4).

If you’ve been assigned an out-of-state IP address, not to worry: it can be added to a "white list" to grant access regardless.

Is there any way to quickly check if an out-of-state IP might be the problem?

Go to Gale's Quick IP Check to see where your IP address is located.

If you get a "no" that looks like the following, get in touch with MLS or Gale.

no,Oakland,37.830898,-122.219597,131.243.180.44,CA" (IP is not in Massachusetts; report to MLS or Gale technical support)

My library uses EZProxy or another method of authentication.
Report any IP address changes (in or out-of-state) directly to each of the statewide vendors. Tell representatives that your library uses IP authentication (not geolocation).
